About the wee gnomes
The thing is, the chemical cocktails comprising the current environmental swill, be it atmospheric, aquatic or terrestrial have peculiar effects, like disrupting endocrine systems, nerves and genes. The sensitive little beings depicted here experience the effects first and more profoundly than the humans around them and they all feel invisible. It's a common gripe that the humans don't want to see them but they all know that they are the proverbial canaries, so, happy future to the rest of us!
